Chenango Health Network, Partners Celebrate National Rural Health Day Print E-mail

Chenango Health Network joined the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) and other state/national rural stakeholders in celebrating the first-ever National Rural Health Day on Thursday, November 17, 2011.

NOSORH created National Rural Health Day as a way to showcase rural America; increase awareness of rural health-related issues; and promote the efforts of NOSORH, State Offices of Rural Health and others in addressing those issues. Plans call for National Rural Health Day to become an annual celebration on the third Thursday of each November.

November is National Diabetes Month Print E-mail

Make a Plan to Prevent Diabetes and Its Complications

November is National Diabetes Month and Chenango Health Network is partnering with the National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP) to raise awareness about the importance of setting goals and making a plan to prevent type 2 diabetes and diabetes-related complications.

Diabetes affects nearly 26 million Americans and an estimated 79 million people are at risk for developing the disease. In New York State more than one million people have been diagnosed with diabetes and 450,000 don’t know they have it.

Chenango Health Network Sponsors Paint The Town Pink For National Breast Cancer Awareness Month Print E-mail
To mark National Breast Cancer Awareness Month Chenango Health Network will sponsor Paint the Town Pink during October. Travel through Greene, Norwich, Afton and Bainbridge and look for pink bows attached to the telephone poles, view the pink flag flying, and visit participating shops where large pink ribbons are displayed and pick up breast cancer awareness materials. [ Read Full Release (.pdf, 14k) ]

Leah Decker, Age 8, Raises Money For 2011 Susan G. Komen Central New York Race For The Cure® Print E-mail
Saturday, May 14, 2011 the 2011 Susan G. Komen Central New York Race for the Cure® took place on at the New York State Fairgrounds and Expo Center in Syracuse, NY. Leah Decker, age 8 and her mother, Jennifer Decker, Afton, participated on the Chenango Health Network team. Leah raced in the Kid’s Race, and Jennifer walked in the 5K. At this time Leah has raised an astounding $1,110.00. Leah’s enthusiasm was evident as she squeezed her way to the front of the line at the start, and even though breathing hard she finished with a grin. She finished her mile in 16 minutes and teased her mom that it took her 2 hours and 10 minute to go three miles.
