Financial Assistance Program assists Chenango County women when they are diagnosed with breast or gynecological cancer and cannot afford treatment.
The agency receives special funds from the St. Agatha Foundation to assist women with breast cancer. Chenango Health Network (CHN) also receives donations from community organizations, businesses and individuals to assist women with breast or gyn cancers. CHN uses all of these funds to pay for health care and purchase gas vouchers. Chenango Health Network does not provide any cash grants to individuals.
Women may ask for help from CHN by calling the agency to discuss their needs and by completing a CHN program application for breast cancer patients or a CHN program application for gyn cancer patients. The application must be signed by the woman (or her legal designee) and a health care provider who can attest to her cancer diagnosis.
CHN understands that not every woman may have the same need. Examples of the type of assistance that will be considered include:
• Travel expense (gas cards)
• Co-pays for prescriptions or health care providers
• Wound care systems
• Lymphedema treatment, sleeves
• Breast reconstruction
• Post-surgical clothing and wigs
• Treatments not covered by insurance such as acupuncture or massage therapy
• Medications not covered by insurance
